Privacy notice

Nurtalo is software used by nurseries and other early years settings. In most cases the setting decides what is recorded and why, and Nurtalo processes that information on the setting's instructions. For enquiries made through this website, Nurtalo decides how that information is handled.

Information handled on behalf of a setting

When a setting uses Nurtalo, the system holds the records it needs to operate: child and family details, attendance, care and learning records, safeguarding and medical information, staff records, financial records and the audit history of actions taken. The setting determines what is entered, who may see it and how long it is kept.

Families should direct questions about their own child's records to their nursery first, because the nursery controls that information.

Information handled when you contact us

If you contact Nurtalo about the product, we hold what you send us — typically your name, contact details, your organisation and the content of your message — so we can reply and, if relevant, prepare a proposal. Please do not include child, family or staff personal information in an enquiry; we do not need it.

How information is protected

Records are separated by organisation and setting, access is decided from membership records on the server, and row-level security is enforced in the database rather than only in the interface. Files such as photos and documents are stored privately and served through short-lived links generated for a verified request. Sensitive actions are recorded with the actor and the time.

Retention

Records created by a setting are retained according to that setting's own retention decisions and its statutory obligations. Enquiry correspondence is kept only as long as it is useful for the conversation it belongs to.

Your rights

Individuals in the UK have rights over their personal data, including access, correction, erasure in some circumstances, restriction, objection and portability. Where a nursery controls the record, exercise those rights with the nursery; Nurtalo supports the setting in responding, including through full data export. Where Nurtalo controls the information — for example a website enquiry — contact us directly.

Cookies and similar technologies

The public Nurtalo website is deliberately light. The authenticated product uses storage strictly necessary to keep you signed in securely and to support offline-aware behaviour. Nurtalo does not use children's records for advertising, and never sells personal data.

Changes to this notice

Nurtalo is pre-launch and in active development. This draft will change as the service matures, and a definitive notice will accompany the contractual terms at launch.
